"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you." -John 15:12
How can I follow this simple commandment? I know I will not kill, but this commandment is probably the hardest commandment for me to follow. God wants us to love one another as He loved us. His love for us is unmatchable, how can I, a human, do such a thing and move on with my life.
Is it possible to forgive someone no matter what it was? To love someone when they leave you alone with children to feed; or love someone when they hurt you so bad that you lose a little bit of yourself? I am not sure if they deserve my love. What happens if they misuse my love? Should someone still love when they have been beaten to a pulp? When people hurt me I don't know how to forgive them right away. I almost am fearful for what will come out of my mouth and my actions.
And then I remember that God did just that for all of us. We are constantly letting Him down with our forgetfulness of why we are on this earth still, yet, He loves us and forgave us and died for us. So simple, right?
I also remember we are not perfect, nor can we be, only God is perfect. We must try to be more like Him in everything we do.
I am writing this post because I must remember that love is not easy. Love is not happy warm butterfly feelings in our tummy. We must work at love and we must love as God has commanded.
I have a lot to learn about forgiveness. We shall grow and learn together. ;)
