I am happy to say that my sister-in-law and her fiance had a healthy baby boy, Nicolas Christopher Perez, on July 24th. He was suppose to come into this earth in September, but Christina's water broke on July 4th. She has been bed ridden ever since at the Good Samaritan hospital in San Jose. Her experience giving birth didn't go as well as she hoped. The anesthesiologist poked and prodded her swollen back several times, including hitting her bones. She said out of the whole birthing experience this was the worst phase. She said within 8 minutes of the 1st spinal, epidural, and 2nd spinal tap, Nicolas came into the earth. She felt the doctors splitting her open, at the same spot it had been cut open for the previous three, and her organs spreading while the doctor yanked Nicolas from her womb. She ended up puking afterwards because of the pain and it didn't help she had just eaten no long before the contractions started.
Besides having to be in the incubator and watched carefully, the baby is gaining weight and is not needing breathing and feeding tubes. He will have to be stuck in the hospital until the doctor thinks he is strong enough. Christina gets to come home Tuesday. My nieces are doing fine and are excited to see their baby brother and mother coming home.
