I went to Benicia for the first time ever. I stayed at my friend Kelly's house. Her house faces the bay with a mountainous background, it is a gorgeous site to wake up to every day.
I drove up mid day its about an hour away from my home. I had to pay a $4.00 toll fee to cross the bridge. The city unknown to most, is in fact a historic little gold mine. Did you know it was our state capitol at one time? Here is a little history for your taste buds...
The Constitutional Convention for the new state of California convened in Monterey in the year 1849. During California's first five years of statehood, its Capitol had seven locations, an apt metaphor for the restlessness and striving that have always characterized California.
September 9, 1849 Monterey
December 15, 1849 Pueblo de San Jose
January 5, 1852 Vallejo
January 16, 1852 Sacramento
January 3, 1853 Vallejo
February 11, 1853 Benicia
February 28, 1854 Sacramento
I had no idea about our "Capitol on Wheels". I bet you didn't either. It was also a location for the Pony Express office in 1860, I believe. It connected with the city Martinez. I got to see the stone with the facts regarding the Pony Express.

After walking along the bay, Kelly and I shopped. We got to go to a library sale where I bought Joel lots of comics and 3 Star Wars books, very cheap. We ate at Kinders, best steak sandwiches ever. We went to the mall and Kelly got a M.A.C. makeover, her first visit to the store. We ended up purchasing some due to the very helpful and talented Jill. We also ate the Buffalo Bills Wings, my first time there. We also got our nails did. I am still getting use to the length of my nails and was very nervous about the commitment to them.

Kelly brings out the "girly-girl" in me. I need that in my life right now. Thanks Kelly!!!! I plan on going and taking more scenic pictures to post here.
