Henry Cowell Redwood State Park

Today, Joel and I decided that we needed to go hiking. We invited Caleb to come along and join us. We drove to Santa Cruz and started our journey. I have been here before, but we went on a different route.

Joel really wanted to go in the river and hike back to the car, so we did. I haven't been hiking in a long time, nor am I in any kind of shape, so it was a strain for my body to catch up to the boys. Going up river on slippery rocks and falling was not a good combo for me. I had to go real slow, for fear I would keep falling and scrapping my leg. We eventually got out of the river to look for a regular path because we were pretty sick of the water and unexpected rock formations in our way.

We ended up following the train tracks back to our car. I enjoyed the scenery. I love being around redwood trees. Redwood trees are so majestic to me the way they overpower the forest with their mammoth heights and widths. It is impossible to capture their beauty, well at least with a point and shoot and limited space.

It was a good way to escape the heat back in the valley so I enjoyed every minute of it. I had to take my point and shoot camera Minolta Dimage Z1, for fear of dropping my Nikon D80 DSLR, but just the same, I think I got some good shots. I need to find the right connection for my camera and I will upload some pix later on, hope I find or I will have to format the SD card I used and lose all my pix. =(
